History & Accomplishments
Degrees: Doctor of Chiropractic, Palmer College-West 1992
Fellow, International College of Nutrition 2001
1976 – 1982 Served in the United States Navy. Duty stations included, Orlando, Florida, San Diego, California, Norfolk, Virginia, and the U.S.S. Guam, on which I traveled to 22 different foreign countries, crossing the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal, Indian Ocean and numerous ports in Europe, and Northern and Southern Africa. Final duty station: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
1977- awarded the “Navy & Marine Corps Medal” for Heroism, while on active duty in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S Guam (LPH-9) in Barcelona, Spain. This is a long story for another time. Forty-nine men died and I almost lost my life that night.
1983 – Married my lovely wife, Maile, at Iao Valley, Maui, Hawaii.
1992- Graduated Palmer College of Chiropractic-West.
1993 -2006 Authored and/or co-authored numerous books and booklets on nutrition, natural health and wellness, including “The Supplement Shopper, Choosing the Best Supplements for 50 Health Conditions“, The Chelation Controversy: How to Safely Detoxify Your Body and Improve Your Cardiovascular Health”. Basic Health Publishing, “Chemicals and Human Health, a Family Guide”, and “Health is Wealth”.
1992- 2004 Co-founder (with my wife, Maile Pouls, Ph.D.) the ‘Health Enhancement Center’. Duties included doctor of chiropractic & clinical nutrition, natural health education, public lecturer.
1994 – As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I donated my professional services one day per week at the local homeless shelter in Santa Cruz, Ca. This experience really opened my eyes to the different groups of people that can make up our homeless neighbors and how a functioning shelter can assist both those who are able and unable to reintegrate into the local community. I have always had a heart for the ‘less fortunate’.
1995- 2000 On-air guest on numerous local and national radio and internet “Health Talk” shows. Guest Speaker, San Francisco Whole Life Expo, Guest lecturer to health professionals on “Health, Nutrition, Environmental Toxicity & Detoxification”, one-on-one meeting with over 300 doctors and health care professionals and their staff and patients throughout the United States.
1995- 2018 Created www.YourNutrition.com & www.AdvancedNutritionalConsulting.com
1996- 2018 Formulated dietary supplement product lines for numerous national and international nutritional and pharmaceutical companies.
1999- Co-authored (with my wife, Maile Pouls, Ph.D.), the book that gave us ‘nationwide notoriety’ as nutritional doctors, “The Supplement Shopper, The Complete User’s Guide That Takes the Guesswork Out of Choosing the Best Supplements For 50+ Health Conditions.” (Future Medicine Publishing)
2000- 2002 Host and on-air nutritional educator, the “Eternal Health” show, Shop NBC. I flew to Minneapolis MN once a month, performed over 100 total hours of live television to audiences of between six and nine million viewers.
2001- Honored with a Fellowship to the International College of Nutrition in “recognition of significant contributions for the advancement of nutritional sciences.”
2002- 2013 Research & Nutritional Product Development, Educational and Motivational Speaker, for numerous American Nutritional companies.
2003 – Present Moved from California to Hilo, Hawaii, and created a national ‘Long-Distance Nutritional Consulting’ program. Company headquarters and shipping/receiving of products were maintained in Northern California.
2003 – 2012 Joined Glad Tidings Hilo Church, Pastor Henry Kahalahili. My wife and I became friends with the Kahalahili family and “Pastor K” took me ‘under his wing’ and created many opportunities for me in his church. We stayed at Glad Tidings after “Pastor K” went to Heaven and Renee Godoy assumed Senior Pastor duties. Pastor Renee allowed me to provide many Wednesday night messages, lead the Men’s group and provide announcements at Sunday services. Presently, we attend Central Christian Church, Hilo.
2004- 2018 President, Health Enhancement, Inc. (HEI). HEI services include personal and corporate nutritional consulting, nutritional product formulation, wellness educators, and manufacturer and distributor of our own private label ‘Healthy Alternative’s Plus’ dietary nutritional supplements.
2010 – Present Registered UntoMe.org., applied for and received corporate 501C3 approval for UntoMe by the State of Hawaii as a public charity. Began soliciting donations from private sources to be regranted to “The Food Basket” food bank, “Hope Services” homeless shelter and services and the “Good News Jail and Prison Ministry”.
December 2018 Retired from private practice. Now planning to run UntroMe.org full time. We are praying that UntoMe gains the participation of our community, and watch what the Spirit of God can do in our community.
Message from Dr. Pouls: As you can see, I have been very blessed throughout my lifetime with a great marriage, adventures, successful businesses and opportunities. I have RECEIVED God’s Grace into my life.
To me, these degrees, titles and accomplishments were important life experiences, however, they all seem insignificant in comparison to my personal, ongoing, co-creative relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, through UntoMe, I want to start something really good for the Spirit of the community that I love so much.
